Babies, Tots and Kids in Girona

  1. Girona is the largest city in northern Catalunya and often tops the list as the place where most Spaniards would like to live. It is not difficult to see why. During Roman times it was a major trading town & the centre of Arab culture, and its medieval streets & buildings are remarkably intact which gives the old town an enduring charm. There is much to offer families too, not least because it is surrounded by some of Catalunya´s most stunning countryside with the volcanic hills of La Garrotxa to the west and beautiful beaches and medieval villages of the of the Alt and Baix Empordà to the south. Be warned however - property prices are some of the most expensive in the whole of Spain. If you were looking for a family house for example, you may not see change out of 700 thousand euros. Here we have listed some of Girona´s best activities, day-trips and shops for babies, toddlers & kids and others Just For Mum.

  4. Child-friendly restaurants in Girona

There is a distinct French influence in many of Girona´s restaurants, which many regard as some of the best in Catalunya. The cafés under the arcades of the Rambla de la Llibertat and nearby Plaça de Vi are fairly cheap and cheerful and good places to soak up atmosphere. Otherwise you could try out one of the restaurants listed below, which are all suitable for families. Feel free to send us your own recommendation if you feel we have missed out something special

  7. Interviews with Mums in and around Girona

"An advantage for being a parent in the international community, is giving your children the desired ability of speaking 3 languages effortlessly. Sometimes I get very sentimental and think how sad that Zara will never be a Brownie like I had been, but then I remember that life in the UK wouldn't be the same for her now as it had been when I was a lass! But I do worry about the education, there is no room for error here, I do have to let go of my anxiety and trust the system! I worry/get upset that she hasn't got a Catalan Grandad to ask about history and hear about the old days of the 'town'!"
