    British

    George, 8, Fred 6, Guthrie, 5, Olivia 18months

    What was your experience of having a baby in Roses? (if relevant)
    All born in the UK

    How did you find the process of relocating to Roses with your children (if relevant)?
    Fine until they were sent to school then it was a huge shock for them

    How well integrated would you say you and your children are?
    Well enough now. We have locals who are friends, as do the children.

    What language do you speak to your children?
    English

    What has your impression been of childcare and education in Roses so far?
    The local village school is very good and there is a nursery from 1 yr which is cheap, plus daily centre for kids during the holidays.
    Compared to the UK, I think the facilities are very good. They could do with more private secondary schools in the area though.

    How do you rate the amenities available for parents and children in Roses?
    Loads of stuff for kids to do that is outdoors which is fine because the weather is usually nice. When it is bad weather, you struggle.

    Where you live, how good are facilities for children (shops, restaurants, activities etc)?
    In our village of 1000 people, there is a very well stocked local shop and excellent butcher, several restaurants which are good for kids, a big sports centre for after school activities and a great village pool.

    What do you think are the main advantages and disadvantages of being a parent from the International Community living in Roses?
    Disadvantages are you never really fit in completely but that may be a good thing, because you also are out of the village gossip loop.
    Advantages are that the kids have a very rounded experience, with both cultures playing an important part in their lives.

    Is there anything you think would improve children´s lives in Roses?
    Better secondary schools and better facilities for young teenagers.

    What do you wish you had been told before you came to Roses?
    That everyone speaks Catalan more than Spanish.

    What advice would you give for anyone having a baby or thinking of relocating to Roses with children?
    Give your children loads of support. Do not assume that because they are kids they will learn to speak the language quickly and make friends easily. I think it is as traumatic for children as it is for adults.

    What couldn´t you live without in Roses?
    Our excellent bank staff, and a great small supermarket that is family owned and run and the beaches in summer.

    What could you live without?!
    The awful month of August when you cannot move or park.
