Girona Province is located in the north-east of the region of Catalunya and borders France. Girona is the largest city in northern Catalunya and often tops the list as the place where most Spaniards would like to live. It is not difficult to see why. During Roman times it was a major trading town & the centre of Arab culture, and its medieval streets & buildings are remarkably intact which gives the old town an enduring charm. There is much to offer families too, not least because it is surrounded by some of Catalunya´s most stunning countryside with the volcanic hills of La Garrotxa to the west and beautiful beaches and medieval villages of the of the Alt and Baix Empordà to the south.
