"I can highly recommend the Ambrosia Spa. It’s a really lovely place in a great, central location, ideal for some girly relaxation and pampering. I had the Thai message and it was amazing. I went in the middle of a pretty tough week, feeling quite stressed with aches and pains in my shoulders, neck and lower back and came away feeling like the weight of the world had been removed! All the treatment rooms are cosy and relaxing, and individually styled depending on what kind of treatment you’re having. So for the Thai massage I was on a low futon double-bed in a Thai styled room. They have other rooms with showers, hydro baths and even one with a sauna for a few people, so in that sense it’s an ideal place to go with a group. Price wise I think it’s pretty reasonable as well, certainly not as expensive as the more well known spas in Barcelona like Bliss and Six Senses.I will definitely go back for more treatments, I quite fancy the Chocolate Therapy facial – it sounds delicious!" Lots of very tempting treatments in this hidden away salon. On offer, among others is chocotherapia (an irresistable massage using chocolate-based products!). They have all the usual manicure, pedicure, facials etc too
The only centre in Barcelona (that we know of) that offers this type of yoga, much practised on the celebrity circuit. Not only is it hugely enjoyable, the pounds just fall off.

"If you’re looking for some pampering that’s a bit special then BIiss Spa at the W Hotel is the place to go. The treatments are literally bliss, and the pedicure I had (on a reclining armchair, eating delicious brownies, quaffing cava and watching Sex & the City) was a really good one that lasted about 4 weeks! It’s a great place to go for a day out with the girls, or even if you just want some ‘me’ time. Once you are there you get to use all the spa facilities including the gym and there’s a free cava/brownie/nibbles buffet. Personally I would go just for the cava!" (LV, July 2010)

"I just wanted to recommend my doctor, for I am really happy with the laser treatment he is doing to me. I went there because I wanted to remove some sun stains that I had all over my face and specially around my mustache (after pregnancy it gets kind of dark that area). So he treated them with laser, and they are GONE !!! I am really happy, and now I am going for some hair removal and wrinkle smoothening ! One most pamper herself, jejeje. " I would like to recommend fellow mum, friend and great pilates teacher Doina Taylor. Doina holds classes at very competitive rates in a very central location. She has her own small studio on the Ramblas, right next door to Cafe d'el Opera. She can have classes for up to 5/6 people but also is available for individual classes. I have been having 2 classes a week with 2 other mums for over 2 years now. Doina is patient and very caring. She explains everything carefully and takes into consideration all our aches and pains! I have never managed to do any sporting or fitness activity for this length of time! But I really hate to miss a class with Doina because no matter how worn out from kids, work, sleepless nights, etc, I always feel uplifted when I come out! "If you can arrange to get away for a few hours either alone or with friends, I highly recommend Rituels d'Orient in Barcelona. An oasis in the centre of the city, it is a traditional hammam and offers many different treatments and massages also. I spent 3 hours there which consisted of over an hour in the hammam ( 2 different temperature steam rooms and a small swimming pool) and where I also had a whole body exfoliation with black soap and the “kessa” glove. I have never been so scrubbed! Following this, I had a facial treatment. I opted for a deep cleansing facial and I think it was the best I have ever had. I really liked the products they used – so much so that I bought two to take home. Following the facial, you can spend time in their relaxation room with a cup of sweet mint tea and a small snack – extremely appetizing after 3 hours of steam room and treatments. The staff are very nice and also knowledgeable about their products and the beauty rituals of the eastern tradition. I hope to make a return visit very soon!" (CE, Sep 2011)
