Arenal Beach

Arenal Beach Image

A beautiful sandy beach with 3 childrens play areas plus volley ball nets. A wide range of shops and cafes/restaurants run along the beach front including a small supermarket, so plenty of places to go to eat/drink or have an ice cream. There are also dive centres nearby if you fancy doing some water sports.

"We spend most Sundays at the Arenal, its a great place to meet up with friends and for the kids to take their bikes and I highly recommend Olas for their selection of ice creams!'" (GB, June 09)

A beautiful pebbled beach secluded in Javea. A stunning little haven to take the kids for a paddle or have a picnic without the hussle an bussle of tourists.

"A much better alternative to Platja de l’Arenal. There is also an amazing restaurant on the beach called Barraca, selling the most delicious paella and tapas! With the best view in town" (CC, July 10)

Denia Beach

Recommended by Georgina Bambrook

A long, fine, sandy beach in the north of Denia also known as Les Marines with plenty of activities and water sports in the summer months. The main town is also within walking distance which has a wide range of shops, cafes and restaurants.

'" I love denia beach, there are plenty of things to do here whether its going for a swim or doing some water sports. In the summer there is a funfair close by and boats trips to nearby towns. The main town is close by which is full of spanish cafes and restaurants and there are also loads of great shops to visit!!"

This is a lovely little, blue flag sandy beach along the Moraira coast. It has a really nice restaurant and its within walking distance from the town if you want to take a look around the local shops.

The water is really clean and clear and that makes it great for swimming and for children.

Montgo Nature Park

Recommended by Javea Tourist Office

Montgo Nature Park Image

Montgó rises above the towns of Jávea and Denia. This imposing promontory, which lies almost parallel to the coast, has a highest point of 753 metres and is only a few hundred metres from the coastline with which it is connected by a plain known as "Les Planes", sloping gently down to the Cape of Sant Antoni. It covers 825 hectares. The fauna present in the Natural Park is closely linked to the scenery and the vegetation which has developed there. In the higher areas the patiamarilla gull nests and the Audouin gull hibernates along with many other birds. In the cliffs and rocks, ravens and predators are located. We can notice the nests of the perdicera eagle and the presence of a couple of royal owls. In the areas of red lavendar, many animals can be seen such as the dormouse, the country rat, rabbits, badger, gineta, fox and weasel. Due to the more or less permanent shortage of places to collect water, the least frequent vertebrates are amphibians, among which we can highlight the common toad and the corridor toad (Bufo Calamita). Reptiles are more frequent, such as the common small lizard, the ocelad lizard, the horseshoe snake, etc. Standing out in this group is the presence of the Iberian "eslizón". Within the group of invertebrate species, we can notice a great wealth of gasteropedes communities and insects.

Moraira, 15 minutes from Javea heading towards Calpe has a beautiful beach with a play area on the beach for children, a volleyball net and a small stream leading into the sea from a pond where children can use fishing nets to catch tadpoles/little fish. Just off the beach is another play area with swings, slides and climbing frame. There is also a restaurant on the beach selling ice creams and food.

Pinosol Park

Recommended by Georgina Bambrook

Pinosol Park, (opposite Hotel Pinosol) is a large park with 2 childrens play areas and large woodland area, great for picnics and days out with the children. There is a large carpark and BBQ and seating areas.

"This is a great place to take the children, there are 2 play areas, one for smaller children with a wooden climbing frame and slide, the other is for older children which has monkey bars and a table tennis table. It can be quite hot in the summer as one play area is not shaded, but there is a BBQ area with lots of seating under the trees so there are some shady areas. Its also a good place to have your little ones birthday party." (GB, Aug 09)
