Pregnancy and birth interviews & your stories
If it is possible that you are pregnant you should make an appointment to visit a specialist doctor at your health centre who, with the nurses and midwives, will monitor your pregnancy and carry out any necessary tests ( scans, analyses, etc) up to the moment of birth)
The midwife will give you a pregnancy record book where she will record the development of your pregnancy. You should carry it with you always, even when you go to the hospital for the birth. She will also inform you about the existence of antenatal classes taking place in the
After the birth you should continue to visit the specialist for regular gynocological check ups.
If you wish to get pregnant, or you do not want any more children, or if you want to use a method of contraception your CAP has a family Planning Team available to help you.
**Please note by constitutional right, in Spain and in the European Union, there is equal treatment and opportunity. If you are asked to be seen by a woman, the centre is not obliged to meet your request**

Fertility treatment interviews & your stories
.Unlike some other European countries, Spain still has anonymity for egg and sperm donors meaning waiting lists for IVF & fertility treatment can be quick.
Spain has highly regarded infertility clinics with cutting edge technology, doctors and embryologists with a vast range of experience between them, and modern, purpose built facilities.
When it comes to using your own eggs and sperm, some countries have legislation statin the number of embryos transferred be restricted dependent on age and treatment undertaken. In Spain there is a more open attitude with clinics able to offer more flexible options, but still within legislated parameters.
IVF and fertility treatments available in Spain:
Intrauterine insemination using husband or donor sperm (IUI)
In vitro fertilisation (IVF)
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
Surgical sperm retrieval (PESA, TESA, MESA)
Ovum (egg) donation
Assisted hatching (AH)
Blastocyst transfer
Frozen embryo transfer
Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD)
The cost of treatments is comparable to, or less than most European clinics, for example:
IVF using own eggs under €4000
Egg donation €5900
(Medications are always separate to the above prices and there might also be additional costs such as embryo freezing, blastocyst transfer and assisted hatching.)
The clinics have no waiting times to start any type of treatment and are able to offer donors that fulfil most physical characteristics.

Adoption interviews & your stories
Adoption in Spain can be a fairly drawn-out process but has become increasingly popular in recent years. This is due to a number of factors: inability to conceive, increasing numbers of celebrities are adopting foreign children and also for some groups, adoption is seen as a preferable alternative to the likes of IVF or IUI. International adoptions are on the increase due to the lack of adoptive children in Spain on the one hand and the demand to adopt on the other.
