FresCo is a popular chain restaurant offering fresh and healthy food. The menu changes daily but always includes a large salad buffet, soup, pasta, pizza, a main course, desserts (fruit salad, ice cream etc) and tea & coffee. Most restuarants have child seats and there is space to park a buggy. No need to book in advance - just turn up as you will never have to wait more than 5 mins for a table due the self service style of the restaurant. Open 12:45pm-1:00am

Silenus
The relaxed and friendly atmosphere of Silenus is half the fun of dining there - the delicious food, of course, is the other half! The imaginative menu is Spanish/ Mediterranean. Many of the dishes have a tropical flavour using mango or coconut flavours. The creative lunchtime tasting menu is a real treat - a little bit of eveything from the whole menu. Tragaluz
Tragaluz is one of several restaurants of a well-known Catalan chain. This restaurant is a fun place to take the kids at lunchtime as the place is always busy and the food is pretty child-friendly. You can sample the likes of likes of fillet of pork in figs and goat cheese and steamed fish with fresh asparagus. This is one of the few Catalan restaurants considered to be haute cuisine. Located in Eixample, you can expect Catalan cooking inspired by French traditional fare whch includes the likes of partridge in port or filet of sole stuffed with foie gras. Can Culleretes
According to the Guinness Book of Records Can Culleretes is the oldest restaurant in Barcelona and the second oldest in Spain. Originally a pastry shop that opened for business in 1786, this restaurant retains its geneuine 18th century architectural features and is a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach! House specialties include cannellonis, paella, partridge and seafood medley. The wine is very reasonably priced. Open tues-sat 1:30-4pm, 9-11pm, Sun 1:30-4pm. Closed 3 weeks in July.

This is probably Barcelona´s most famous restaurant. Literally meaning "Seven Doors" this popular eaterie has been in business since 1836 and third and fourth generations of loyal patrons still pack the place. You can expect delicious portions of traditional Catalan food. Reservations recommended. Opening hours: 1pm-1am every day.

Ultrafresh food and ultra popular (so book!) from the Boqueria´s most famous restaurant. Originally conceived as a hotel, it has been operating since the 70s. Kids are welcome all day and night .

Pasta e Basta
Kids will love the pasta here (houe speciality is ravioli) and what´s more it´s very good value (a 'menu del dia' for 10 euros). Open 1-3.30pm and 8-11.30pm. Closed on Sundays.

Organic
Just behind the Boqueria Market off Las Ramblas, this is a family-run vegetarian restaurant with a fabulous salad bar, friendly staff and decent prices (under 10 euros for lunch). Dinners are naturally priced higher than lunch and do not include the salad bar. There are changing facilities, high seats and the chef can prepare schildren´s meals on request. 1230-midnight every day.

El Xampanyet
El Xampanyet is a well-known bar located in el Born. Small and friendly, it has been run by the same family since the 1930's. Kids will love it as there is so much going on and the staff are very welcoming towards children. The interior is covered with coloured tiles, a collection of bottles and bottle openers and they serve (as the name suggests) their own local cava. There is also a small selection of tapas. Opening hours Tue-sat midday-4pm & 6.30-11pm, Sun midday-4pm. Closed in August.
