Midway up the Eastern coast of Spain, the Costa Blanca (white coast) is an extremely popular tourist destination not only due to its fantastic climate and its 218km of stunning beaches but also because of its rich history and beautiful white villages scattered amoungst the coast line. Stretching from Denia in the North, to Torrevieja in the South, it is home to two of the most visited tourist spots in Spain: Benidorm and Alicante. Away from its developed seaside holiday resorts the Costa Blanca also boasts a rich history. Inhabited by Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and Muslims, you can still see the influences and remains of these diverse cultures in this part of Spain.
