I’m English and my partner Jose is Spanish

One child Maya Sanchez Tremlett 13 months.

Good health care throughout duration of pregnancy. Costa del Sol hospital was well equipped and clean.

Very well integrated, we live within a big spanish family, only know one English person.
What language do you speak to your children?
I speak English, Jose speaks a mixture of Spanish & English
What is your impression of childcare and education in Marbella?
I’m not too sure yet as I haven't had to use it. With such a big extended Spanish family close at hand Maya is always looked after by a family member or me.
Where you live, how good are the facilities for children (shops, restaurants, activities etc)?
As in all of Spain, kids are very welcome everywhere. I would say activities beyond the beach and the playground might be a bit limited but as im not really at that stage yet I might learn of more interesting things going on.
What do you think are the main advantages and disadvantages of being a parent from the International Community living in Marbella?
I’m having trouble answering this question as I don't really feel that I’m part of an international community, I’m more part of a large Spanish (Marbellan) family. The main disadvantage of not being Spanish is that my network of friends is somewhat limited and it’s been harder to meet parents who have kids the same age
Is there anything you think would improve children´s lives in Marbella?
More activites in the countryside (as opposed to the beach)
What advice would you give for anyone having a baby or thinking of relocating to Marbella with children?
Great place to bring up a kid. Life is quite easy here as long as you have work. The beach and the weather make it very easy to keep your kids out of the house. If you live centrally you never have to drive. There's very little crime.
What couldn´t you live without in Marbella?
The abuelo who spends virtually every day cooking for us! And a car to get out of Marbella when I get cabin fever.
What could you live without in Marbella?!
The parking nightmare and impatient people beeping their horns whilst you try to park.
