Yes i work, currently back in the UK working until Christmas for the BBC (Costume dept)
What nationality are you and your partner?
We are both British
How many children do you have and what are their names and ages?
We have three daughters Millie 3, Jessica 2 & Alice 9 months.
What was your experience of having a baby in Sitges? (if relevant)
Sant Camil hospital in St Pere de Ribes is a local hospital that both Jess & Alice were born in, the hospital was clean, own room, ok food. The care & hyigene were fantastic. The option of gas woukd have been nice but it was an epidural or nothing!!!
How did you find the process of relocating to Sitges with your children (if relevant)?
We moved to Sitges when Millie was only 4 months old so was very easy, Steve came over two weeks earlier to find an apartment/set up mobiles etc which made it much easier.
What language do you speak to your children?
English
How well integrated would you say your children are in the local community?
Millie goes to a local School "Maria Osso" in Sitges, Jessica is in a local nursey where only Catalan is spoken, to the girls being in Spain (Sitges) is normal as they know no different, i think it helps them being young.
What has your impression been of childcare and education in Sitges so far (if relevant)?
Compared to the UK childcare is so much cheaper in Sitges, Jess goes to nursery 5 mornings a week, the monthly cost is 200euros, this wouldn't even cover a weeks nursery fees in the UK. With Millie I would like her to be taught more Spanish rather than Catalan as I feel woukd be more useful in life
How do you rate the amenities available for parents and children in Sitges?
Parks, beaches, sun, sand, the outdoor life is fantastic, only downside is when it's raining there's not too much to do.
Where you live, how good are facilities for children (shops, restaurants, activities etc)?.
We live a 5 minute walk into town/beach/park so it's a great all rounder for both me, Steve & the kids.
What do you think are the main advantages and disadvantages of being a parent from the International Community living in Sitges?
The language is a difficulty for me still, as i'm only able to hold basic conversations. I find not having any family here a disadvantage as i have to do all things monday to friday on my own with the three girls as Steves at work, going out for the evening is hard as all our friends have their own children so it would be nice having family to help.
Is there anything you think would improve children´s lives in Sitges?
It woukd be nice to have a Fira Park style thing in Sitges indoor bouncy castles etc.
What do you wish you had been told before you came to Sitges?
That we should be having Catalan not Spanish lessons!!!
What advice would you give for anyone having a baby or thinking of relocating to Sitges with children?
Sitges is a fantasic place to raise children, it's very safe/friendly. The restaurants are very accommadating when you arrive with children/buggies. We found it quite difficult to register at the local doctors surgery in Sitges, lots of paperwork/questions. When you have a baby in Spain (Sitges) theres alot of paperwork to be taken to different offices in Sitges, it helps to have a friend that speaks either Spanish or Catalan to help plus someone with a knowledge of where to go.
What couldn´t you live without in Sitges?
The Terramar park, it's our second home!!!
What could you live without?!
