What was your experience of relocating to Quesada with children?
We had no problems at all as we have friends who have been here for about 11 years so they helped us with everything.
How well integrated would you say you and your children are?
My child speak fluent Spanish and integrates with the Spanish children and way of life very well. I however do not speak Spanish.
What language do you speak to your children?
English
What is your impression of childcare and education in Spain so far?
My son loves his school and always has a glowing report.
What school do your children go to?
Principe De Espana Rojales
Why did you choose this school and are you happy with your choice?
Because it was recommended by friends and I spoke to a lot of other mums about it and they said it was a good school. I am glad I choose it as my son has settled in so well
Where you live, how good are the facilities for children (shops, restaurants, activities etc)?
There is lots to do for Children in Quesada. There are two soft play areas, karate lessons, Dancing lessons, all the bard welcome children and we always find plenty to do as a family.
Are there any particular activities, groups, classes etc for children in Quesada that you would like to recommend?
Dance Xtreme street dancing for children is great all the girls seem to go to this dance school and they all love Jodie the teacher. For he boys there is a foot ball school called Junior strikers which costs five euros a session(1 hour) and is at the Norwegian school in Quesada. Karate lessons at Howards Gym Thursday’s and Friday’s. Staurday evenings at Red Monkies (soft play area) they have a junior disco. For five euros they stay from 7-9 and play games and are fed whilst you have a few hours to yourself!
Are there any particular service providers (doctors, dentists, babysitters, tutors etc) for children in Quesada that you would like to recommend?
There is a language school in Dona Pepa called Berlingua where a lot of people go to learn Spanish.
What do you think are the main advantages and disadvantages of being a parent from the International Community living in Quesada?
The main advantage is that all the English parents help one another and give one another advice which is a real bonus. A disadvantage may be that sometimes the Spanish parents don’t like you if you can’t speak their language which can be a bit of a nightmare sometimes. But you can’t blame them for that!!!
Is there anything you think would improve children’s lives in Spain?
I think when you have children that are 9 and above there is a lack of things for them to do. They do need to cater for the older kids they need more facilities like youth clubs and after school activities.
What advice would you give for anyone having a baby or thinking of relocating to Spain with children?
I would say do it! Don’t think about it just do it BUT ensure at least one of you has a job to come to as finding jobs in Spain can be hard. Giving your child the opportunity to speak another language is the best gift you could ever give them. Children adapt very easily and what you my find difficult they find a doddle!!!
What couldn´t you live without in Spain?
My friends they are all great and we are all in the same boat so we help each other.
What could you live without in Spain?!
Rude English tourists that get drunk and let their kids run riot!!!
