 "I was, of course, thrilled upon hearing that I had won a massage through the MumAbroad website at Essential Spa in Barcelona, especially being nearly 8 months pregnant and in need of some pampering before the birth! I was even more thrilled after having had the massage as it was a truly lovely experience.
Ana, the owner of the spa, met me and showed me around the modern style spa. It has a real sense of calm and tranquility and you certainly don’t feel like you are smack bang in the middle of Barcelona – just what I needed after a busy morning. The oriental décor and candle lit rooms are spot on to make you feel relaxed and my treatment room was all cosy and inviting. Ana introduced me to my lovely therapist who gave me the most wonderfully relaxing and soothing massage. I felt thoroughly looked after and spoilt – they really catered to my every ‘pregnant need’ and ensured I was comfortable throughout by positioning me correctly and providing comfy cushions. I was offered tea afterwards and all the therapists and staff were so friendly - not once was I made to feel rushed.
An additional benefit I must mention is that Essential Spa offer the option to go for a treatment with your baby and Ana, or one of the therapists, will gladly look after your baby for you in the reception area. Ana explained to me that after her sister had her baby boy, she would come in for a massage and Ana would keep an eye on him in the reception area whilst he slept and it worked really well, and she has since done it for other clients. They will feed the baby if necessary and attend to him/her but if the mother is needed for any reason, they will come to get you; ideal if you just need an hour out to get your nails done, or have a blowdry or facial and don’t want the inconvenience of finding childcare!
