Melissa offers daycare in English for babies and toddlers up to the age of 5. Children play in a friendly, safe home environment with an enclosed private garden space for outdoor play. Melissa offers a pick up service from Castelldefels and Sitges. Oliver (aged 8 months) has just started going there and absolutely loves it. Melissa is full of genuine enthusiasm and goes that extra mile to make both the children and parents feel totally at ease. (RL)

British School of Barcelona - Castelldefels

Children of three and four can attend Nursery at the British School (Early Years department). This stage in the education is pre-National Curriculum and is called the Foundation Stage. Planet English Morning Club

Planet English Morning Club is a unique educational experience offering a full Primary curriculum taught in English in the mornings to children between 3 and 6 who maybe are here temporarily,or are on a waiting list for one of the International schools, or who haven´t decided which educational road to go up yet. "The nursery is totally flexible about times - mine change quite often if my classes are cancelled or moved around and you only need to tell them the day before.

I was able to stay with Stan for his first week, gradually increasing the amount of time we stayed and I got the impression that I could have kept staying with him for even longer had I wanted to. When he started staying on his own, we increased how long he stayed gradually and I decided how long this would be, it wasn't dictated by the nursery.

Stan is in the younger group and there are 2 staff for 10 children which I believe is a good ratio by Spanish standards! The staff are very sweet with the children. There are plenty of toys and activites and there is a small outside play area with trikes etc which the groups use in turns. Each child has a record book so you can find out what they did during the day. There are children of lots of different nationalities there, although at Stan's age (20 months) it's hard to say if he even realises they are speaking Catalan to him. And finally, you can actually peep in through the window and see what's going on, unlike most other nurseries I've seen! " (SH)
