Taberna Maceiras, Madrid

Recommended by Harriet Browning

Taberna Maceiras, Madrid Image

Taberna Maceiras is a Galician seafood restaurant in the Las Huertas district of Madrid.
Las Huertas 66, 28014 Madrid, Spain - +34 914 295 818

Comments:

"It's rustic, jam-packed from 2pm onwards, and the menu is absolutely delicious seafood. Each time I've had lunch there, I've ordered WAY too much! Their 'Arroz' contains a hearty, moreish mix of mussels, prawns and chunks of fish, and their 'Merluz Relleno' is my favourite dish, so far....
€15 a head is enough to fill you up, and will get you a couple of ice-cold beers too. Go with a few friends, so you can try several dishes"
(HB, July 2011)

J & J Bookshop

Recommended by Anne Lennon

J & J bookshop opened in Dec '03. As an American living in Madrid, Jamie Poole says the thing she missed the most was being able to curl up in a big chair with a mocha in one hand and several books to read in her lap. So together with her husband, Javi, they converted a Chinese restaurant into their dream Bookstore/Coffee shop. Now they offer over 20,000 second hand books in English, for both children and adults. There's also a full coffee shop menu, with large cappuccino's and delicious cheese cakes.
