This friendly English-language bookshop is one of the best places to find secondhand book bargains. A small cafe sits on the ground floor, while the basement contains over 15,000 books ranging from horror stories to the classics. The second Wednesday of every month is the hora del libro (book hour) when participants discuss a specific book; other social events include quiz night and story time for kids.
Open Monday to Thursday noon to 8pm; Friday and Saturday noon to 10pm; and Sunday 2pm to 8pm.

This recently opened multi-storey shop is part of the Eroski group. It stocks books, toys, art supplies video games music, and educational materials. Each month they have a calendar of organized activities for kids, arts and crafts, theatre,  and story telling. All activities are in Spanish.

Great selection of Spanish books for kids, (the English selection is very small). The layout of the shop is open and spacious and they have a reading /DVD watching corner which can make for an easier shopping experience with small kids.

This wonderful children’s bookshop has a wide range of books in Spanish, English, and French. They have regular storytelling sessions in various languages on Saturdays and lots of interesting children’s workshops throughout the week.

FNAC

FNAC is Madrid's largest and most well-known stop for books, music, DVDs and electronic hardware. Here you can find a wide variety of titles as well as current periodicals. But English kids books are limited. Nice space next to children’s books in Spanish(up one floor) for sitting and reading with your kids. They also have Spanish storytelling and other activities for kids from time to time check website for monthly events.
