Alison Jones - Beauty Therapist
1) What services do you offer your clients?
The treatment range includes massage, facials, waxing, manicure and pedicure, eye lash/
brow tinting, eye brow shaping, make-overs, exfoliation and self tanning.
2) What products does the salon use?
I work with organic ranges called “Sophyto” for the face and “Florame” for the body.
The waxing method is called “Phd” and is the first of its kind with no danger of cross contamination or infection. The wax is held in sealed tubes with a one way flow for a complete hygienic treatment. A new wax head is used for each client.
3) Why choose organic products and what are the benefits?
Organic products are perfect as they are completely non-toxic for our bodies. After extensive research I came across Sophyto. They are a UK based company, organically certified, specialising in skin care. They are the first company to be able to treat the cause of our skin problems and not the symptoms as they support the natural function of our skin. The use of organic yogurt and fruits compliment the products and activate the ingredients further to make this a highly effective and totally unique treatment. For further information on Sophyto please refer to their fantastic website at www.sophyto.com
Florame are a highly reputable organically certified company from France. With high quality ingredients I can ensure a safe and wonderful treatment programme for use during massage, manicures and pedicures and the full body exfoliation treatment. For more details go to www.florame.com
4) What is your experience and why are you different from other salons?
I have over 20 years experience in a profession I still love! I had a beauty clinic in the UK for 12 years and have been working in Denmark, Sweden and now Spain for the last 9 years. My passion for what I do, the products ranges I offer are so unique that I have yet to find another organic salon using fresh ingredients to suit my clients needs. I also specialise in massage as the clinic I owned in the UK was part of a sports centre which meant a good understanding of how to massage was critical for the business! I give an incredibly strong massage for those who like to feel completely stretched and ironed out. This can be rare to find!
I commence all treatments with a consultation so I can work out what is best for you. You can relax knowing you are in confident, safe hands
5) Why are facials important?
From 25 years old our skin starts to age. Unless we have pimples or other skin problems we pretty much ignore our faces until we hit between 30-40 years. By then we have noticed some changes! Our skin types range from dry, sensitive, oily and normal. Our skin problems can consist of dehydration, broken capillaries, congestion, acne, aging, dark circles or bags under eyes etc. Some of these problems are due to hormones, stress, cysts on ovaries or other medical conditions, use of certain medications, poor skin care routine, sun exposure, hereditary/genetic history etc.
Bearing all this in mind and living in Spain where we are bombarded with the sun and other free radicals it is very important to have a good skin care programme.
With a facial once a month backed up with home care products you can ensure you are giving your skin the best protection, nourishment and preventative care it deserves.
6) What are free radicals?
Free radicals are highly reactive, unstable molecules that cause damage to healthy cells, leading to internal aging as well as visible signs of external aging. Each day our healthy skin is exposed to trillions of free radicals; they are created inside our bodies through normal, necessary chemical reactions and all around us through pollution, UV radiation, x-rays, stress, strenuous exercise, and smoking. Smoking in particular can be harmful: each cigarette releases millions of free radicals into the lungs. This is why smokers age so much faster than non smokers.
Our skin is the last organ in the body to receive nutrients from food so it is important to be using the correct skin care products that are high in antioxidants to fight off these free radicals.
The use of skin care products and a diet containing antioxidants are key factors in providing a highly effective anti-aging strategy for the skin and it simply makes no sense to use products that do not provide this benefit.
7) What are antioxidants?
Antioxidants such as vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E and Green Tea interact with and kill free radicals, keeping the cells safe and healthy. Antioxidants are abundant in many vitamins, especially in fruits and vegetables. Skin care products formulated with antioxidants can be directly applied to the skin for immediate and lasting results. Just as health and nutrition experts recommend a high intake of antioxidants from a variety of fruits and vegetables and nutritional supplements, skin care experts are now recognizing the anti-aging benefits of topically applied antioxidants.
8) Do lotions and creams really make a difference?
Science certainly supports the protective factors of antioxidants applied topically. For instance, the antioxidants vitamins C and E have been proven to decrease the effects of the sun on the skin and have been shown to prevent further damage. Regular application is highly recommended for protecting your skin from oxidation (free radical damage).
All these factors led me to Sophyto. I know I can guarantee my clients a great skin care routine that gives all the above and more!
9) Why is massage beneficial?
For many of us we lead a stressful life. Not always unhealthy stress but just day to day stress of work, kids, financial issues etc. A lot of tension builds up in our bodies particularly in our back and neck. This can lead to tension headaches and stiffness in the muscles. Having a regular massage irons out that stress and relaxes the muscles. The benefits of massage include better circulation, the removal of dead skin cells and hydration of the skin. It also improves mobility of joints, reduces or heals back pain, relieves sore muscles after exercise and mentally enables us to unwind and relax. For some clients a weekly massage is recommended until the tenderness in the muscles has gone – this can take 2 or 3 sessions. Afterwards, once or twice a month is perfect. A consultation which includes a medical questionnaire is completed by the client commencing treatment. This ensures you are receiving the best treatment suitable for you.
10) Do you offer discounts and are vouchers available?
For manicures, pedicures and massage treatments if you book a course of 6 sessions you get one free.
Vouchers are available on all treatments
