Happy New Year to you all! We hope you had a restful and fun Christmas break and have had a good start to 2011. MumAbroad expects to have another busy year expanding the site as well as our new sites MumAbroad France and MumAbroad Property.

LATEST INTERVIEWS & MUMS IN BUSINESS
Do you know anyone who is thinking of getting married in Barcelona? Then you might like to point them in the direction of our latest interview with Clare Doane, founder of Barcelona Wedding. She talks about setting up her business, how she manages to juggle work and kids as well as ‘Bridezilla’ behaviour. Chef Sophie Ruggles came to Barcelona from Australia 8 years ago, set up a restaurant and has written a series of cookery books. She shares with us her tips on using local ingredients for nutritious children`s meals as well as the key factors to becoming a good family cook. Jill Burgess moved to the Costa del Sol from the UK thanks to a TV program and has never looked back. She talks about education in the region, how her kids correct her Spanish and has good advice for others thinking of making the move. Jill and Sophie are our latest additions to our Mums in Business section as is Sarah, founder of children`s keepsakes company BravaBaby and Connie who helps businesses export their product to other (European) countries.

SPOTLIGHT ON TORREVIEJA
Torrevieja in the Costa Blanca has a population of around 90,000. There is a strong contingent of British, Germans and Scandinavians who live here all year round (Torrevieja has the largest number of British residents of all the Spanish municipalities). Torrevieja is famous for its beautiful beaches, lively social scene and fantastic shops. We have been asking mums in the region about their experience of Pregnancy & Birth, Play Areas & beaches, Activities for kids, Shops for mums & kids, child-friendly restaurants and services in Torrevieja. UK researchers have given new advice about when you should wean your baby. Current advice in Britain recommends six months exclusive breastfeeding but experts now say solids should be introduced at 4 months. They suggest later weaning may increase food allergies and iron deficiency levels, but other experts backed the existing guidance. Read more.

Scientists in the US have suggested that the secret to a women’s success in business is to act like a lady and not like a man. The study asked 80 young men and women about their personality while they studied for a master’s degree in business administration. Eight years later, the researchers got back in touch to find out how their careers were progressing and found that ‘macho’ women who took an aggressive approach had been promoted less than more feminine ladies.
