We have also been speaking to Doctor Machi Mannu, a child behavior expert based in the Costa Blanca. He talks about the prevalence or Attention Deficit Disorder or ADHD "I was involved in a research project on users and providers perceptions of the concept of ADHD. The project involved interviewing parents, especially mothers of children diagnosed with ADHD, and so many of the mums made a link between increased hyperactivity and sugary drinks. It is very possible that poor nutrition has a huge role to play as a cause of ADHD".

"Children who are exposed to smoke are more prone to asthma, ear nose and throat infections. Higher rates of cot deaths are also recorded in smoky homes. Now there is talk of third hand smoke exposure which suggests that the residues of smoke on clothes and walls may also be toxic" Dr Alice Byram is based in Cadiz on the Costa del Luz and recently set up the "Stop Smoking Clinic" in Jerez.
