"The new Marina Alta Hospital is located just outside La Jara on the way to Denia. The facilities are excellent...as good as a private hospital. Natural childbirth is promoted but epidurals are available, There is no gas and air or other pain relief available. There are plenty of experienced and caring staff. Once you have given birth you are given your own private room on the maternity ward which are spacious and air conditioned. You also have your own private en-suite bathroom. The room is well equipped with ample room for you, baby and guests. There is a sofa bed so daddy can stay too! For further information visit the hospital or speak to your midwife at your local clinic. The hospital facilities are available to anyone with a valid SIP card please remember that there is no guarantee the staff will speak English."

Denia Rugby Club was born in 1990 and has gone from strength to strength. They offer clubs for adults and children, the youngest team being the under 9's. The Juveniles (1990-1991) and Cadetes (1992-1993) play in their respective Alicante Leagues and the Infantiles (1994-1995) play in the Valencia League. The younger age groups play regular tournaments all over the Community of Valencia. Juveniles Training is on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm, Cadetes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm, with the Infantiles and younger age groups training on Wednesdays at 6.30pm. Centre Hipic Marina Alta: riding school offers lessons for everyone despite age and experience. The facilities are excellent and staff very friendly and helpful. The centre is a registered Pony Club Centre and classes are held each week. The Pony Club is aimed at children of all ages and abilities, the children learn how to care for horses and ponies using achievement badges and awards. This is a fairly new gym and has excellent facilities and is within a 30 minute drive from Javea. They have a large indoor heated swimming pool and offer swimming for babies, children and pregnant women as well as adults. They also have a creche facility which you can prebook if you need someone to look after your little monster whilst you use the gym and/or spa facilities. They do offer a membership for swimming only which is great if you don’t have time to use the gym but want to take the kids swimming.

As well as the vast number of shops there is a cinema where films are shown in English as well as Spanish, a bowling alley, games arcade and a large soft play area with a ball pit and trampolines! "We are spoilt for choice for go-kart tracks in this area but one that is not to be missed is the one at Oliva near Gandia. Oliva is about 40 minutes drive from Gandia and the Karting track is located off the N332 before you actually reach Oliva town. There is plenty to do, as well as go-karts for the more advanced drivers there are two tracks especially for children with go-karts that go no faster than 20km/hour. As well as the go-karts there are mini cars for the younger children, bumper boats and mini tanks! So much to do it’s a great day out for the whole family." (SK, Sep 2010)
