Reading in Open Air - "Bibliopiscinas" and "Biblioplayas" in Catalunya - July and August

This summer various libraries across Catalunya will be offering reading in the open air on various beaches, parks and outdoor swimming pools. The libraries will install stands and offer reading books for all ages and preferences: novels, comics, magazines and newspapers. In addition there are plenty of fun activities, workshops and storytelling sessions planned. Biblioplayas and bibliopiscinas will be open during the months of July and August

A Morning on the Sea Bed - July and September

If you want to get to know the most curious inhabitants of the seabeds, then become a fish keeper and learn how to set up your own little aquarium at the Barcelona Aquarium. This activity is aimed at boys and girls from 8 to 12 years. Starting at 9.30am it lasts 4 hours and 30 minutes.
Price: 17 € * (the price does not include breakfast **).
Dates: 1, 8,15,22 July and 2, 9 September
(*) Special price for members of the Aquarium of Barcelona.
(**)You can bring your own breakfast or order it from the café through the reservation department.
This activity can be done in Spanish or Catalan
It is necessary to book within a week of date by calling the phone 93 221 74 74 (Reservation Department).

Summer Activities at the Cosmo Caixa - 25th June - 12th September

Experimenta i lligacaps (6 to 12 years old)
Science is boring? Says who? Join this workshop and you will discover how to make drawings with sound, how mixing some substances secure unexpected results and learn to cycle with square wheels…

Bufaveles (5 to 12 years old)
What are the different parts of a sailboat? what do you need to make a sail? You will be able to construct a sailboat with different materials and to make it sail in the pools of CosmoCaixa

The Grand Prix! (5 to 12 years)
Would you like to take part in a car race? If yes, you will have to first construct a car. With materials such as bottles and corks you can discover how wheels work.

The rocket takes off! (from 7 years)
What does a rocket need to take off? Learn how to construct your own rocket and let it take off.
 
Stars and by day! (4 to 8 years)
Have you ever seen stars during the day? Discover that stars hide in the sky and how the sun hides them. You will be able to learn about stars and to participate in dynamic games on astronomy.

Playing with Maths (Barcelona) - until 14th September

The CosmoCaixa is offering 3 fun workshops for all the family about the world of Mathematics. Through the workshops, you will discover that numbers can be fun and offer many surprises in different forms.

Workshop 1 Family  numbers = emotions
Test your mental agility and try out various mathematical problems. Learn to count using an abacus, send coded messages and discover how the world of numbers can be fascinating and fun.
From 30th June until 14th September
Saturdays, Sundays and festivals at 5pm. August from Monday to Friday.2 euros. Recommended for children aged 6 to 12.

Murder in the Musuem - Barcelona 12th March 2008 - 7th January 2009

Following on from its success in New York City, Murder in the Museum has arrived in Barcelona at the Museum of Natural Sciences. On Tuesday morning, the body of the Director of the Museum is found and visitors have to become criminal dectectives, observing the crime scene using different techniques used by real-life professionals. It is not just a game but an exhibition, which puts visitors at the scene of the crime, makes them investigate and gater evidence and real tools in scientific labs and to question witnesses. The exhibition presents techniques used in the field of criminology, combining fields such as chemistry, biology, physics, dentistry and entomology.
