Let´s Make A Film Workshop - Sitges

Let´s make a film is a theatre workshop for kids in Sitges in the month of July 08 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 7.30pm.
Open to children from 7 to 16 at a cost of 30 euros. The first three weeks will be improvisation to create characters and to make the plot. The last week the children´s ideas will be used to shoot a short film with Sitges as the backdrop.

Would you like to take part in a car race? If yes, you will have to first construct a car. With materials such as bottles and corks you can discover how wheels work.

The rocket takes off! (from 7 years)
What does a rocket need to take off? Learn how to construct your own rocket and let it take off.
 
Stars and by day! (4 to 8 years)
Have you ever seen stars during the day? Discover that stars hide in the sky and how the sun hides them. You will be able to learn about stars and to participate in dynamic games on astronomy.

Science Lab Summer Courses - 29th July - 2nd August

For German and Spanish speaking children who are at home the first week of August, there is the opportunity to take part in a Science Lab for the day. Children will be given the opportunity to take part in exciting science experiments with sounds, electricity, space and colours.
Courses take place from 10am until 4pm with an hour for food and free play. Every child should bring their own lunch (Science lab will provide fruit and drinks)

Monday 29th July - Tones and Sound Workshop for 4-8 year olds
Tuesday 30th July - Energy and Electricity workshop for 8-12 year olds
Wednesday 31st July - Space workshop for 7-12 year olds
Thursday 1st August - Colour workshop for 4-7 year olds
Friday 2nd AUgust - Mountain and Valley workshop for 7-12 year olds.

Cost is 60 euros a day, It is necessary to reserve in advance as seats are limited

Drama Factory Summer School - 30th June-4th July

This summer, kids have an opportunity to go to The Drama Factory Summer School. This year the theme will be from Oliver! The Musical.
Running from Monday 30th June – Friday 4th July 2008 from 10am to 2pm.
The four hours a day workshop will be divided into two parts, first part focussing on drama and the second on singing and dance.  From page to stage, participants will get to improvise scenes based from the story and write their own scripts, learn to sing some of the show stopping songs from the great musical and give an end of week performance to family and friends. The course will be run by Sophie Heydel and Libby Barnes, both are native English speakers. 
Sophie is a professional actress, storyteller and drama teacher, she has run the Drama Factory, an English drama class for children since 2003.
Libby Barnes is a professional music teacher, who has been teaching music to children for 9 years. There are only 12 places available, so book up soon!

Summer Camps at Barcelona Zoo - 25th June to 10th September

Since the 5th May, Barcelona Zoo has begun taking inscriptions for their summer camps. The camps include a series of zoological workshops and contact with the anaimals. They will also visit the animal's 'homes'.
The program of activities is very varied and depends on the age of the children. Some of the workshops are repeated.
Among the workshops on offer are:

Children´s Zoo (5 to 7 years)
Working with wild and domestic animals. The children get to do all the cleaning, feeding of the animals and learn how to care fro them.
Ponies & Horses (5 to 8 years)
Children will learn how to ride a pony, how to clean them and feed them. They will also visit zebras, rhinos and other animals.
Learning to draw (8 to 12 years)
Children will learn the art of drawing animals naturally, working with different styles every day.
Around the world in 80 species (5 to 7 years) (8 to 10 years) (11 to 14 years)
Children will learn about the different species of animals, prepare their food and learn about their eco-systems
How do animals speak? (5 a 7 years)(8 to 10 years) (11 to 14 years)
Learning about how the animals communicate including their body language and sounds.

Camping in Nature for Children from 7 to 14 years

Every year The Foundation Territori i Paisatge of Social Obra of Caixa Catalunya organizes nature trips for children. These stays are for a week duration and offer immersion activities to encourage children to both enjoy and to learn about nature. Children from 7 to 14 years old are invited to camp in the following locations: Aiguamolls of l'Empordà, Ribetell - Alinyà,  Estany de Banyoles - Porqueres, Les Planes de Son, Mas de les Cigonyes - Sebes. Summer Camps Organised by Barcelona City Council

This summer 27 nursery schools in Barcelona will offer activities for children. Registration for the available places for leisure and sports activities is open until 10th May. The municipal programme of educational and leisure activities for children and young people between the ages of 1 and 17 during the summer holidays will be able to offer its services to 113,591 youngsters this year. This figure represents an increase of 16% on last year, with the novelty that 27 municipal nursery schools will be offering 1,240 places for children between the ages of 1 and 3 years old. The Mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Hereu, explained that, with the summer presenting more opportunities for educational and leisure activities for children and young people, 353 activities had been programmed this year, co-ordinated by 282 leisure and sporting bodies.

Blossom Kindergarten Barcelona - Summer Camp

Blossom Kindergarten in Espluges will be holding their first Summer School this year. The inscription process begins 28th of April until the 15th of May. The theme will be "giant stories". They have chosen this theme as they believe that story-telling plays an important part in a child’s development. It allows children to excercise their imagination and explore their likes and dislikes whilst also teaching them about the world they live in.  The Story Giant theme will link to the following recreational activities: Cooperative games, expression and communication games, cohesive group games, self-esteem and self-confidence games, role plays and simulations, story-telling, music and dances of the world, workshops to elaborate the different materials which will be used for the plays and story telling, outdoor and water-based activities

During the Summer School the following, different types of stories which are grouped by topics will be followed and adapted to the needs of the different age groups. Legends, Fairy Tales, Fables, True Stories, A Modern Story, Classics

The Blossom team consists of early childhood education teachers, specialised native English teachers and assistants. The inscription process begins on the 28th of April and ends the 15th of May. Once Blossom International Kindergarten has received the inscription form, 50% of the attendance fee will be debited from your bank account; this will automatically reserve your child’s place. The remaining 50% will be automatically debited from your account during the beginning of the Summer School.

The cost of the summer schools is: 200 Euros for one week, 370 Euros for two weeks, 540 Euros for three weeks and 640 Euros for four weeks

English summer Camp - El Masnou

Small English summer camp in El Masnou (30 minutes on train and 20 by car from Barcelona) running from last week of June until first half of September. From 9am until 6pm. German Immersion Day Camps - Sant Cugat

Afind in Sant Cugat is holiding camps this summer for children from 18 months until 14 years and students are grouped according to ages and language proficiency to ensure maximum learning for each individual. The German Immersion Summer Camps are designed to give children a unique opportunity to learn or improve their German language skills. The camps consist of one-week sessions. During each session, students participate in interactive games, music and movement activities, and art projects that centre around a specific theme. Beginner students will learn basic language skills to supplement the vocabulary linked to each theme. More advanced students will learn useful phrases, grammatical concepts and practice their conversation skills. Sessions run Monday-Friday from 10.00 – 13.00 or from 900 -15.00.

Katy Zwetsloot-Hyatt  will be holding ceramic classes in Sant Pere de Ribes, near Sitges, this summer to keep the little ones busy in a creative atmosphere. Planet English - Sitges

Planet English run a holiday club every Summer for children between the ages of 3 and 11. They have many regular customers who come back year after year, and although it´s not 100 % in English (some of the children and monitors are Spanish or Catalan) the main language is English and many of the activities are in English. They offer lots of art and craft activities, plus board games and competitions,dressing up and story telling and also table football, air hockey etc. They try and run it rather like a mini youth club where children are free to choose their own activities, and the atmosphere is really nice and relaxed. The dates are : Wednesday 25 June - Friday 1 Aug, weekday mornings 9.30 - 13.30h  The price is 60 euros per week which includes a mid - morning snack.
